Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar | Exploring Local Attractions | Visit to Mughal Gardens | Nishat Bagh | Shalimar Bagh
Start your adventure in Srinagar with a warm welcome from Ladakh Ultimate Destination. After arriving, our representative will escort you to a houseboat or hotel, where you’ll have the afternoon for personal activities. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful Shikara ride on Dal Lake, taking in the stunning sunset. Visit the famous Mughal Gardens, Nishat Bagh (The Garden of Pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of Love), established during the Mughal period in Kashmir. End the day with a delicious lunch on the houseboat followed by another relaxing Shikara ride with beautiful mountain views. Overnight at the houseboat.
Day 2: Journey from Srinagar to Kargil Valley via Zojila Pass 11,575ft (250km) | Drass Village, the World’s Second Coldest Inhabited Place
Begin your day with morning tea and a hearty breakfast before setting off on an exhilarating drive from Srinagar to Kargil Valley. Traverse through picturesque villages and arrive at Sonamarg (2740 m), surrounded by verdant fields. The route gets more challenging past Sonamarg, ascending to the snowy Zojila Pass at 3527 m, the gateway to Ladakh. Continue to Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on Earth, for a brief stop for refreshments and passport checks. Drive a few more hours to reach Kargil (2710 m), your stopover point to Leh. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 3: Kargil Village to Leh | Exploring Local Attractions | Magnetic Hill | Pathar Sahib | Sangam | Hall of Fame | Spituk Monastery | Lamayuru Monastery | Moonland
After breakfast, depart Kargil for Leh, stopping at several attractions like Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, Sangam, and Lamayuru. Sangam, located in Nimu, offers a splendid view of the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. The Hall of Fame, dedicated to the heroes of the Kargil war by the Indian army, is a must-visit. Other highlights include the mystical Lamayuru Monastery encircled by the dramatic “Moonland” hills. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 4: Leh Local Sightseeing – Leh Palace / Shanti Stupa / Market
Explore the local sights of Leh, such as the iconic Shanti Stupa, which features unique architectural elements and murals depicting significant events in Buddha’s life. Visit Leh Palace, once the royal family’s residence, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. Overnight in Leh.
Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley 135km via Khardong La Pass 18380ft | World’s Highest Motorable Road | Hunder Village | White Sand Dunes | Camel Ride Points
Set off early in the morning to Nubra Valley via Khardong La Pass, the highest motorable pass in the world at 18360 ft. Enjoy lunch in the striking landscapes of Nubra Valley, famous for its sand dunes, cold desert, and Bactrian camels. Take a camel ride through the captivating white sand dunes of Hunder village. Overnight in camps or a hotel.
Day 6: Nubra to Turtuk and back to Hunder | Zero Village | Last Village | Balti Royal Heritage Museum
After breakfast, drive to Turtuk village along the Shyok River banks. This village, formerly under Pakistan’s jurisdiction, now serves as a gateway to the Siachen Glacier. Explore the village and its surroundings before returning to Hunder for the night.
Day 7: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok River | Disket Village | Disket Monastery | Maitreya Buddha Statue
Post-breakfast, visit Disket Monastery before heading to Pangong Lake via the Shayok River. Spend time at the serene lake and explore nearby attractions, including the imposing Maitreya Buddha statue at Disket Monastery. Overnight at a camp.
Day 8: Pangong Lake to Leh via Changla Pass 17590ft | World’s Second Highest Motorable Road | Thiksay Monastery | Shey Palace | Rancho School
Begin your day with an early breakfast and drive back to Leh via Changla Pass. Stop to visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and the popular Rancho School along the way. Overnight in Leh.
Day 9: Leh to Keylong or Serchu 230km
Depart early in the morning for Serchu, passing through stunning landscapes, including Upshi, Tanglang La Pass (17,585ft), Skyangchu Thang, Namkeela, and Lachangla Pass (16,617 ft). Overnight in Serchu.
